Mother's Day? Birthday? Doesn't matter...anything goes!!

Hi all….Pattie’s Creations is having another challenge…and anything goes!! Yup, take your pick, birthdays, Mother’s Day, Easter…whatever you please in whatever color you please! You do have to use an image on your project, but other than that it’s up to you! Now we would really love to see a Pattie’s Creations image…in fact….it would tickle us pink! You don’t have to use one…but if you do, you get an extra entry into the random draw. How’s that for an extra incentive?

The incredible image I got to play with for this challenge is Pattie’s Sweet Nectar image. And you can find it and all of Pattie’s fabulous images here. I have been in a rut lately with making cards and so I decided I needed to do something other than a card. So after scouring the internet, I found a tutorial for doing a paper pad cover. You can find the tutorial here. The pad of paper inside is one I picked up from the dollar store, and it can be used for a grocery list or by the phone to write messages...or anything else you can think up!
Now this image is near and dear to my heart because of the wonderful hummingbird. My mom, my 3 sister’s, my sister in law and I used to go away once a year near Mother’s Day…take an extended weekend. Now without going into details (because it would take too long lol), our mascot became the hummingbird. So now every time I see one it reminds me of our wonderful weekends away.  I haven’t decided yet if this is going to be a Mother’s Day gift for my mom or a birthday gift for one of my sister’s, so I haven’t added a sentiment to it yet.
I coloured the bleeding hearts with Prisma Scholar pencil crayons and oms. The hummingbird I coloured with, wait for it….eye shadow. That’s right…I said eye shadow.  I saw it demonstrated somewhere online (sorry I just can’t remember where right now) and thought I would give it a try…and it worked wonderfully. You can’t tell from the picture, but the hummingbird has a really nice “sheen” to it. Then I took SU pastels and using my finger I “circled” blue around my image and kept adding until I liked how dark it was (again I'm sorry that you can't really see the blue, some days the picture just doesn't work). The flowers are from Petaloo and I won them from a challenge on CDAC. I coloured them with SU felts. The ribbon and strings of pearls are from my stash. The cs is also from SU and the dp is by Life in Colors "Purple Memory". I don't know why it's called purple memory when it's pink...but hey, who am I to tell them what to call their paper? lol

Now I'll bet you're asking yourself "How can I join in on all the fun"? Well the answer is easy...all you have to do is follow this link and it will bring you to Pattie's Creations Challenge Blog. There you will find all of the rules, a list of prizes, and of course, all of the fabulous creations that my teamies have dreamed up. Hope to see you all there!

Beautiful colors and coloring!! I watched the tute video and it looks super easy. Charlene, I would make another one so that you can give one to your Mom and the other to one of your sisters!! I like the idea of the Hummingbird as your weekend mascot.
