Thinking of you Dad

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well today. CDAC has got some new challenges happening and one of them is the CDAC Progressive Challenge. Shelly, from Shelly’s Images, has supplied 2 fabulous images for the challenge and you have until March 31st to enter 1 or more projects during that time.

I decided to use only one of Shelly’s images, Angel Sentiment, for a card that I was making for my dad. Shelly gave us an incredible sentiment that was so perfect for what I wanted to do (thank you so much Shelly).  I paired up the sentiment with an image that I got from an online site called Colouring Book fun.

I got the layout from Critter Sketch. I coloured the image with my Crayola Pencil crayons and oms. The rhinestones and pearl are from my stash as well as the green ribbon (the ribbon is by Ofrey). The white flower is from SU and the brown center is cut out using my SU flower punch. The die cut underneath the flower is my Memory Box Seville Buckle (with the tips cut off).

The cs is by Bazzil, the green dp is by My Mind’s Eye and the dark brown dp is from my stash. The inside of the card has a sentiment I got from Create With TLC and I distressed it with my SU Close to Cocoa ink.

Thanks for coming and looking….hopefully you will come and check out all of the new challenges at CDAC!

Hugs ~

Pattie's Creations Recycled or Altered Challenge

Hi all…it’s been kinda nutty around my place lately, so this post is going to be short but sweet. I know…me doing a short post…it’ll never happen.

Today is Friday, so it is time for another Pattie’s Creations Challenge. The challenge this time is to make something that is either Recycled or Altered. For my project I decided to take a vase and make it into a candle holder. I know, there’s nothing special about that. Well the special part is that I covered the vase in Epson Salts! It was kind of a long drawn out process (I know short post) and I ended up redoing the image and vase 3 times (luckily if you need to, the salts and glue wash off easily with a little warm water and soap).
I started out by temporarily gluing a scalloped oval onto my vase where I wanted to put the image. Then I painted the vase with Aileen’s Tacky glue (had been watered down with a little water) using a sponge brush. I started at the bottom and worked my way around to the top. Then, starting at the bottom, I covered the vase with Epson salts. At this point I removed the scalloped oval and left the vase to dry for a couple of hours. Then I brushed off the excess salts with a soft paint brush and proceeded to add the image. The image that I used is Pattie’s Mum’s in Basket. I printed it out onto velum (hence the reason why it was redone a few times lol)and coloured it with my SU felts. Originally I tried attaching it using Aileen’s glue painted onto the vase…and it puckered up. Then I tried painting it on the velum and it rolled into itself and transferred colours. So then I remembered I had velum glue…it’s kind of like double sided tape. Unfortunately I put it on the wrong side and was unable to get the backing or should I say front off. At that point frustration set in so I took and added double sided tape straight to the vase and using some paper towel to hold it down(this keeps your sweating fingers from transferring the ink on your image), I glued down the image.
Here’s a close up so you can see how the Epson salts look after they have dried onto the vase.

And here it is with a candle in it.

At this point you should spray it with a clear sealer. I chose to wait as the blog where I got this tutorial had stated that after a few days the salt would change colour and I wanted to make sure that I liked the way it looked before I sprayed it with the sealer. I still love the way it looks so I’ll be doing that this weekend and will try to get a post in of what it looks like afterwards. The sealer that the tutorial said to use is Krylon Acrylic Crystal Clear Gloss and I found it at WalMart for less than $5 in the paint department. The vase I picked up at WalMart for under $3. Sorry, I know I promised a short post, but after all, this is me lol.

Now head on over to Pattie’s to check out our challenge, it’s rules, prizes and all of the other wonderful projects that the rest of the Design Team have come up with to inspire you. And then we want to see the wonderful projects that you can come up with. Remember, you don’t have to use a Pattie’s Image, but we sure get excited when you do.

Looking Through My Kitchen Window

Hi all, I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend and that those of you with snow have not received too much more. We have had barely any snow so far this year, and as we are already in late January, it is highly doubtful that we will be getting any.

As it is Sunday, it is time for another Release from Digistamps4Joy. This time the rest of my team mates and I have been lucky and Margy has given us 2 images to play with, a wonderful little scenic image drawn by Jen Lee and a fabulous sentiment by Margy herself. I didn’t have time to make 2 cards this time, but I did take the time to play with Jen’s image. It’s called Through the FarmhouseWindow. Now I have to tell you what I told Margy when I saw this fabulous image. Our house that we just moved from was on the corner of 2 roads, both of which came to dead ends. The one road turned into a dead end behind our house. And at the end of that road was a farm, with cows and a hill, only one hill, but this image made me think of our old home and the wonderful farm land I could see looking out my kitchen window. Thank you Jen for bringing me back home for just a bit with your wonderful image.
The sketch I used is this one from Stampin Royalty.

I got the idea for the colours from CDAC’s new Inspiration Challenge.

And the sentiment is from Beccy’s Place. I hope that you will make your way over to the Digistamps4Joy Challenge blog and check out all of the fabulous new images being added to our store and the incredible creations that my team mates have made to inspire and delight you.

Thanks for looking ~ Charlene

Spending time with Grandpa

It’s time once again for Team B to strut their stuff at Digistamps4Joy. Our current challenge is “How Time Flies” and have we got some fabulous creations to get your creative juices flowing.

I decided that I wanted to show “how time flies” by doing up a scene with a grandpa and his granddaughter. To me not much shows more of how time flies than our children and grandchildren growing up. I used 3 stamps from Digistamps4Joy….Panelled Room, Grandfather Clock, Bedtime Barbs and Gramps to build my scene.

I coloured the image with a combination of my SU felts, Crayola Pencil Crayons, Staedtler pencil crayons and oms. I also used my gold felt for colouring the clock face and pendulum.

The inside was done using a tutorial I found on my teammate Desire’s blog…thanks Desire :D I found the front and inside sentiments here.

Now it’s your turn to show us what you got. Head on over to Digistamps4JoyChallenge Blog to check out all of the rules and prizes that you have a chance to win. While you’re there, check out the fabulous creations the rest of my team mates have made…and maybe leave them a little love. Remember, you don’t have to use a Digistamps4Joy Image, but we would be so so excited if you did.

Winter Fun

Well we’re back from the Christmas Holidays and hoping that you all had a wonderful time with family and friends. My Christmas holiday was quiet being spent mostly with just my immediate family…a nice change to the usual hustle and bustle.

But now it’s time to get back into the swing of things, and to start things off at Pattie’s Creations, our new challenge for the New Year is Fun in the Snow. I used an image that I got to name…how cool is that? Pattie has these name the image contests quite frequently and the prize is the image! But I am getting off the topic…the image that I used is called Casa de Cardinal.
I made a winter scene for it by using my SU Lovely as a tree set and stamping for my background. I cut it out using my Nestibilities Labels One Small. I took my Versa Mark pen and coloured the area under the trees and added Snowflake Tinsel embossing powder by The Stamper’s Edge to make the snow under the trees. I used my white gel pen for adding snow to the trees and then coloured the sky with my SU Pastels.

I coloured the image using my Crayola Pencil Crayons and Staedtler Pencil crayons with oms. I used a small black flat backed pearl for my Cardinal’s eye. I punched out small red snowflakes to glue onto my white brad snowflakes and then added a white flat backed pearl to the centers. The cs is by SU and the dp is from my stash. The sentiment is from DeeDee’s Digitals. I cut the sentiment out and then put it in the center one of my new Nestibilities Floral Ovals. I added stickles to the branch, around the image, on the poinsettia (by Recollections) and sentiment.
Now it’s your turn to show us what you’ve got. At Pattie’s Creations it is our rule that there must be a stamp on it, either digital or rubber. For all of the rest of the rules and prizes, head on over to Pattie’s Creations Challenge Blog. And while you’re there, check out the incredible creations my team mates have done.
Thanks for looking….Charlene

Thankful for You

Hey everyone, hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s Eve and Day. Our Christmas was great…had my son come home and spend it with us and then had some of the inlaws for Christmas dinner. New Years Eve and day were pretty quiet around my place, but that’s o.k. because the time leading up to Christmas was pretty chaotic lol.

Digistamps4Joy just had a new release on Sunday and unfortunately I was late getting my card done, but better late than never. The image that I used is called Sharon. I paired her up with a sentiment from Desert Diva. I coloured her with a combination of my SU felts and my Staedtler pencil crayons and oms.

The cs is by SU and the dp isGarden Trellis in the Victoria Garden series by Echo Park Paper. I used my brand new Floral Ovals Nestibilities to frame the image and sentiment.  I cut out 2 border dies (one in the floral paper and one in the green) using my Meridian Border die by Memory Box.  I layered these and then glued them to a piece of dp and the green. I added some flat backed pearls by Recollections and some ribbon and a flower brad from SU. The flowers were from my local dollar store. The leaves were made using my leaf dies by Memory Box and my oak leaf punch by Marvy. I used my SU Pastels for distressing around the image and sentiment. I also added in some string pearl from in my stash.

I hope that you will take a few minutes out to check out all of the wonderful creations that my teammates made using some of the new images. And then pop on over to the store to see all of the incredible images that Margy has been adding lately.

Thanks for looking ~ Charlene
