Digistamps4Joy is going Red, White and Blue

It’s here….it's finally here…. the day that I post my first ever DT project for Digistamps4Joy! And have we ever got something special planned for you today!
As most of you probably know, July 4th is Independence Day in the United States, so to celebrate we have been challenged to make a project using the colors Red, White and Blue. Your project doesn’t need to be something celebrating July 4th, just something with the colors Red, White and Blue on it. Now how easy is that?
I was so excited with the image that I got to play with for this challenge. She is called Kimono Girl and she is just gorgeous…well don’t take my word for it, see for yourself!

Was I right or was I right? When I saw her I just knew that I wanted to give her a really beautiful outfit. So I paper pieced her outfit, shoes and the  Chinese lanterns, from Crafty Anne’s, using an incredible origami paper (warning…make sure that the origami paper is of lighter colors or you won’t be able to see what you have to cut out lol). I also took a blue piece of origami paper and paper pieced the tie around her waist.
For the dp behind her I made my own using the lantern and cs from SU. I colored the tops and bottoms of the lanterns with my gold Gelly Roll pen. The base cs is from Bazzil's Wedding line.
Now I’ve told you what the challenge is, but you’re probably wondering if you have to use a Digistamps4Joy image and what about prizes. Well we have some fantasitc prizes to be won. One person will be chosen by random.org to win 3 digital images of their choice from the store! You don't need to use a DS4J image to win this prize, but we would be so excited if you did. And there will also be a DT choice award (this prize can only be won by using a Digistamps4Joy image). This winner will receive a $6 gift voucher! We’ll also be picking 2 more people that we feel deserve to be in our top 3. For all of the rules and to check out the fabulous creations of my teammates,  please head over to the Digistamps4Joy Challenge Blog here.
Hope to see you join in the fun!!

Well another weekend has come and gone and I figured that I needed to try and get caught up with some of my blogging. I have had this card done for over a week now and am just now blogging about it. My mom approached me the Wednesday before Father’s Day and asked if it would be possible for me to do up a card for her to be able to give my dad from her for Father’s Day. Well what could I say, it was my mom asking for my dad! Of course I said “No problem mom”. So I went looking for ideas of what to make for her to give to dad. And I came across this adorable image that I had just recently gotten from Digistamps4Joy. The first thing that went through my head was “My favourite thing to do is to cuddle with you”. Of course the old saying of the best laid plans of mice and men applied to this. You see I was making this card in the wee hours of the morning and by the time I got to the sentiment part I had forgotten what I wanted to put on it lol. So this is what I came up with.

Isn’t this just the most adorable image you have ever seen? I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. It’s called “Friendship is” and you can find it here. The fold I did for it is called a Stand Up card and you can find the instructions for it at Photobucket here. The sentiment is from Shannon’s Sentiments (Unfortunately she has closed her store for the time being). I added blue stickles to the flowers just to jazz them up a bit…and I was done.

Afternoon everyone...just had to come on and let you all know my fabulous news! I have been accepted as a Design Team Member with Digistamps 4 Joy!!! I am so excited, I can't wait to be able to post for my first challenge. But until then I just had to let you all know about the current challenge that they have going. It's called "Tag it for Dad" and that's just what it is...make a tag for dad! It can be for his birthday or Father's Day, the choice is yours. One random winner, picked by random.org, will win 3 images of their choice from the Digistamps4Joy Store! To win the random draw you do not need to use an image from Digistamp4Joy. There will also be a DT's Choice award. This award will go to the the card / project that we vote to be our favourite (and must be a digistamps4joy image). This winner will receive a $6 gift voucher to spend in the store! How totally awesome is that? We will also pick 2 runners- up who we feel deserve a spot in the top 3. You can find all the details for this challenge here. Hope we see everyone there!!

Sweet Summertime

Summertime is finally here
That old ballpark, man, is back in gear
Out on 49
Man I can see the lights

School's out and the nights roll in
Man, just like a long lost friend
You ain't seen in a while
And can't help but smile

And it's two bare feet on the dashboard
Young love and an old Ford
Cheap shades and a tattoo
And a Yoo-Hoo bottle on the floorboard

Perfect song on the radio
Sing along 'cause it's one we know
It's a smile, it's a kiss
It's a sip of wine, it's summertime
Sweet summertime

Yup, it's summertime once again folks, although you would never know it here lol. Our days the last week have been cloudy and cold. But Guylou's Inimitibility has something that should warm you up. Her newest challenge is all about the sweet summertime! All you have to do is make up a card that has the word sweet somewhere on the front...sorry the sentiment with the word sweet must be on the front of the card where we can see it. Otherwise, the choice is up to you on what you want to do. Now when I think of summer and sweet things, I think of a long time friend of mine who was just out to visit me and long summer days spent just enjoying each other's company.
Isn't this image just the best? It's called Leah drinking a cup of coffee and is part of Guylou's Inimitibilities new releases. You can find her here. It just makes me think of settling in for a cup of coffee and a chat when I look at it. I really wanted to do something special with her so I decided to make a Octagonal Easle card. You can find the template for one (as well as others) here.

The sentiment is from my good friend Tracy, who is part of the DT at Guylou's.

So now onto the all the details on the challenge.

Our host for this challenge is Gina. Her challenge is
1. The word "sweet" visible!!! Not inside the card, but on the face of the card.
2. The theme of the card should be something to do with summer and/or warm weather. Examples: the beach, sun, sand, picnic, summery foods like ice cream or watermelon, bathing suits, flip flops, etc.

Don't have an image from Guylou's you say? No problem, you can use any image, but if you would like to use a Guylou's Inimitibility Image, you can find a whole bunch of wonderful images in her store here.

Will there be a prize you're asking? Well of course there's going to be a prize, and what a prize it is! The winner of this challege will win a $5 gift certificate from Guylou's Inimitibility to spend on anything they like in the store. You will also get the chance to be a Guest Designer on an upcoming challenge!!! How totally fabulous is that? So what are you waiting for...head on over to Guylou's challenge blog. You have nothing to loose and lots to gain!

Blue Fairy

Hey all, hope you're all having a great weekend. Weather is overcast and yucky here...for the 5th day in a row. I am so hoping to be able to see some sun again soon. Today's card is done for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge, MMSC over on the CDAC. The card I did is for a friend's birthday and the image is from A Day for Daisies. She is the cutest little fairy you ever did see. So the sketch challenge this time was your choice. You could make it fancy, CAS or somewhere in between. These are the sketches that were offered.

I chose to do the make it fancy sketch. I just thought that it looked so, well, fancy! lol

So I've done a couple of things that I've never done before with this card. First off, for the background paper I used a really nice thick origami paper. I just loved the look and texture of it. And then I "colored" the image with metallic watercolor paints that my wonderful friend Kelly gave me. I've never tried doing an entire image in metallic water paints. O.K...so it's not entirely in watercolor...her skin is done with Prisma Scholar pencil crayons and oms, but the rest of it is watercolors. I used 2 different colors of blue for her and added "layers" of it to give the look of shading. It didn't go exactly as planned, but I'm pleased with the effect anyways. Her hair is done with the metallic gold.

For my embellishments I used presticky rhinestones and little flower "cups" that I added liquid pearl into.

The sentiment that I used is from Create with TLC.

Uncolored image by A Day for Daisies
Sentiment by Create with TLC
Base DP - DCWV
Origami Paper - Aitoh Origami paper
Metallic water paints
Gold pen for outlining the scalloped oval
Recollections Rhinestone stickers

Liquid Pearl
