Help for a dear friend

Hello Ladies, I have someone that I not only need you to pray for, but I'm hoping you would be willing to try and help out.  I'm sure that a lot of you know Karen, or better known as Krafty Karen. Well she is having a really hard time right now medically. She has major problems in her spine that causes her to have non stop excruciating pain. If you go to this blog it explains, in her own words, what is happening to her and what this lady, Wendy, is trying to do to help her. So what I am asking you to do is 1) go to Wendy's blog and see what she has to say 2) if you are able to help out with her fund raiser (she is trying to get people to buy kits that Karen has designed...and they are only $1.50 USD), please do 3) Please spread the word of this to others so that she can get as much help as possible and 4) Please pray for her that she gets the help that she so desperately needs.

There are so many of us out there and what Wendy is asking is not out of the realm of possibility. If we each told our friends about this and if we each bought one kit, imagine how much good we could do for this wonderful lady. Thank you all so much in advance.

DS4J Challenge #26 - Spring

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, "The Sensitive Plant"

Spring has sprung….no, to all of you in North America, I have not lost my mind lol.  In South Africa spring is just starting and so Digistamps4Joy is having a Spring Challenge. All you have to do to join in is make a project depicting spring and add a homemade flower onto it….easy peasy right? So for this challenge I got to work with a wonderful image called Flower Heart (you can find it and all their other fabulous images by clicking on the words Flower Heart) and it of course made me think of love. My hubby and I were married in the spring and so I decided to make an Anniversary card for him for our next Anniversary.
The fold is called a Starfold Card and you can find the tutorial for it here.

Here’s a close up of the image…isn’t it gorgeous? And it was so wonderful to color.

And this is my card closed. My flower is made of triangle shaped beads and to give them a little extra depth I painted them with my metallic water color paints. I added Liquid Pearl into the center and in the small holes that were in the beads. I also added Liquid Pearls to my paper butterfly. I added small pink pearls and rhinestones as accents. My sentiment is from SU and is heat embossed on.

A DT Call, A Party and some Challenges Oh My!

Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well today. I have a few bits of news to share with all of you today…and you’re not going to want to miss out on what I have to say.

DT CALL

Crafting with Jack is a new blog on the CDAC and she has some of the cutest images. She’s also starting up her 1st Challenge Blog and so she is looking for a new DT. If you are interested in joining her team, you can find her at her blog here. Just send her a message saying you’d like to join and leave a way for her to contact you.

IT’S A WEEK LONG PARTY AND YOU’RE ALL INVITED!

O.K. maybe it’s not quite a week long anymore, sorry, I was a little slow on the uptake…but it is a party and it is going to be running for awhile yet! Nana Vic's is celebrating reaching 500 members and so she’s throwing a cyber party! And what a party it is!! We have tunes, munchies, drinks and best of all…prizes!!! Now they’re not the normal prizes you get at a party….where you have to answer a question right and only a few people win. No….Nana Vic dares to be different, she’s giving away some never before seen digital images and everyone gets them!!! She’s already given away 6 images and there are more to come. What do you have to do to join in you ask? Well, head over to Nana vic’s blog and become a member. Then go  here and join in the party!!! We would love to hear from you and if you’re able, we would love to have you join in the celebration!! The party ends on August 26th (that’s Australian time, so if you’re in North America it will end on the 25th at night). Don’t worry about the time difference, this party is running day and night, just pop in when you have a few moments!

The CDAC’s Progressive Challenge is still up and running. You do need to be a member of CDAC to join in this challenge. Bon Voyage!!

Yaaaaahhhh Hoooo people…we’re going on a trip thanks to Digistamps4Joy! Yup…the challenge this week is to make a project (it doesn’t have to be a card) depicting travel, a vacation or something from a Holiday Destination.
I have always wanted to go to Hawaii…and thanks to the fabulous image I got to work with, I at least get to feel like I've been there.
This is my way of making a luminary lol. I wanted to do something that would make you think of Hawaii, and what better than thatched huts and hula girls? The image is called Hula Honey and can be found at Digistamps4Joy here.
Isn't she gorgeous? I printed her 4 times onto velum paper and then colored the back side of each image with SU markers and Prisma Scholar pencil crayons and oms (skin only). I put the velum in between the glass chimney and the metal of the holder. I then added raffia to the top of the candle holder to give it the thatched hut effect. I used a rub on sentiment for the tag. It says "off on a VACATION to have a little fun...Rest and Relaxation and soaking up some sun! "

Just thought that I would show you a shot with the candle lit.

So now you’re probably wondering how you can get in on the fun. Well just click here and it will bring you right to the Digistamps4Joy Challenge Blog. There you’ll find all the rules and regulations….and what the prizes are…cause of course what’s a challenge without prizes? Hope to see you all there.

Supplies:

Small tealight holder found at Dollar store
Heavey weight velum

CDAC's Progressive Challenge

Hey all, have I got some news for you! CDAC (Crafter's Digital Art Center) is having a Progressive Challenge! You heard right...CDAC is putting this one on and it is definitely something that you do not want to miss! All you have to do to join in, is be a member of CDAC and then join the CDAC Progressive Challenge blog. Now they do have a few rules, like you must make at least one card with at least one of the images provided, but for the first challenge you have an entire month to get it done! After that it's every 2 weeks.
For the first challenge 6 artists have donated 6 of the most wonderful images you have ever seen. I mean you really have to go over there and see what I mean. But just to give you a taste and wet your appetite, I’m going to show you one of the wonderful images and what I did with it.
Now you tell me, is she not the cutest thing you ever did see? I totally fell in love with her and that cute little dress that she’s wearing. And as soon as I saw her I knew what I was going to use her for. I had a bridal shower that I had been invited to a while back…and of course I forg0t about it. Thank heavens I got this image! Doesn’t she just look like a little bride with her flowers and pretty little dress? The image is by Whoopsie Daisy and you can get her for free, until August 29th, just by entering the challenge. But if you miss the challenge or would like to see some of her other images, you can find them here. There’s also a fabulous prize to be had…but you’ll have to go to the challenge here to find out what it is.
Just had to give you a close up view of her. I colored her dress and the blue border with metallic water color paints. The sentiment is from DeeDee's Digis.
