Hi all, as usual I am running late...story of my life lol. I wanted to quickly pop in and show you the card that I made for Digistamps4Joy's Progressive Christmas Challenge. You really should check it out because every month you can receive another Christmas image to make a card...and lets face it, it will be nice to have 12 cards done by the time Christmas rolls around again.
So the image that we were given this time is called My First Christmas. And he/she is just the most adorable little image that you ever did see.
I used some plain olive green cs from SU as my base and for my scalloped oval frame. The dp is by Recollections and came in a package with 5 different types of paper. I used a snowflake edge punch and then a Christmas tree and Peace sign sticker to finish it off. The image is colored with my SU felts and red glitter pen and I used stickles on the hat.
Thanks for visiting and I hope we see you joining in on March's Challenge. To check out the challenge and rules, head on over to our Challenge Blog to the Christmas Challenge.

To Gift...or Not To Gift?
Hi
all, it’s my turn to host the newest challenge for Digistamps4Joy…and I have chosen
Dies and/or Punches. Warning: this is going to be a long post so you might want
to grab a drink and pull up a seat…it’s going to be a bumpy ride lol.
So
I don’t know about all of you, but I absolutely adore my die’s and punches, so
this type of challenge is just perfect for me. I am using 3 new images that you
can find at Digistamps4Joy…”We are late”, “Best foot forward” and “Time to go”.
So I see these 3 images and zing pow wow…I get this great idea for a card!!
Whoo hooo…I am on the imagination train! O.K…so that might not be quite as
accurate as what I would like. Have you ever had those times when you just know
what you want to do, but the execution of it just seems to be beyond your
grasp? Well, that’s what happened to me. I had this great idea…could see it so
clearly in my head, but finding the papers that I could see in my mind was
another matter again. The images have an “Egyptian or Arabian” type feel to
them…so I wanted Egyptian type papers. So I searched and searched and…well you
just can’t find anything with hieroglyphics on them where I needed them. So, I
thought outside the box and oh joy of joys, I found what I needed…hieroglyphics
in a font (you can find them here if you want some yourself). So I made up my
own background paper by printing out a bunch of hieroglyphics on parchment
paper.
So
here we go, I’m on a roll…nope…the paper that I bought to go with it…not even
close to what I needed. Now what? Search the net again of course. Unfortunately
that ended up being a waste of time, so I changed tactics again…change the base
color. And here is what I came up with (you knew this had to come up soon lol…thanks
for hanging in there).
The
fold of the card is called a Squash Fold card…and this is what the inside looks
like (I know, you were wondering where the other images were weren’t you?).
Please
excuse the difference of the colors between the last 2 pics…it was very hard to
get a proper picture with this type of card. The right color is the color of
the front of the card). The sentiments read: “When I heard it was your birthday
I wanted to rush right out and get you a gift” “But my transportation had other
ideas” and “So all you’re getting is this card (just kidding) Have a very Happy
25th Birthday Josh! (I came up with this and Josh is my son).
I
hope that you have enjoyed (managed to get through) this posting. So now I am
hoping that you will head on over to our Challenge blog and join in the fun.
All you need is to add either a die cut or a punch of some sort…or like me a
combination of both. And while you’re there, check out the rules and prizes…and
all of the incredible creations my team mates have made to dazzle and inspire
you.
Thanks

It's All Downhill From Here
Hi
all…I’m so excited because Digistamps4Joy is sponsoring Brown Sugar Challenges
and I’m a GD for it! The theme for the challenge is to use a die or punch…and
have I ever done both lol. This card started out as a fun birthday card for my
son, but grew until I knew that it no longer suited a soon to be 25 year old
man lol.
The
image that I chose to use for this challenge is called Scary Scene. I know, you’re
thinking “Why would you use a image called Scary Scene” for a 25th birthday
card? Well, as my title suggests, “It’s all downhill from here” lol. So, the
premise was a good one…my son has his mother’s warped sense of humour lol…so I got
out my black and white papers and in the end, this is what I came up with.
Now
you see what I mean…just a wee too “girly” with all those flowers to be a good
card for a young man. So, I switched the birthday sentiment and made it a Happy
50th Birthday and will give it to my friend when she turns 50 (she
also has a warped sense of humour)! I colored the image with my SU pastels so
that I could get that wonderful ring around the moon.
Thanks
for visiting my blog today and I hope that you will all go over and join in on
this great challenge…and maybe leave a little love for the DT there.
Charlene

With Love
It’s
time for our halfway reminder at Digistamps4Joy. Our current challenge is Hearts.
Yup, we want you to make a card or project that has either a heart on it or is
made in a heart shape.
For
my card I chose to make a Teepee card. This was my first time making one of
this type and although the “putting together” of the card was easy enough, wow,
was there ever a lot of space to have to fill lol. You can find a tutorial for
it here. The image I used is Digistamps4Joy’s Vase of Hearts.
This
is it partially open to show the little heart flowers that I made using a heart
punch and gluing the hearts together to form a flower.
This
is a picture of one of the other sides with a sentiment from Nana Vic’s.
And
this is the last side, the back of the teepee.
So
now it’s your turn to show us what you’ve got. Make a card or any project (just
as long as it’s kid friendly) that has hearts on it or is made into a heart
shape and enter it into our linky on our Challenge Blog by Feb. 18. Using a
Digistamps4Joy image is not required, but if you do you have a chance at
winning the DT’s favourite. For all the rules and a list of prizes, head on
over to our challenge blog and while you’re there, check out that fab creations
that my team mates have made to inspire you.
Thanks
for popping in ~ Charlene

Swan Love Song
Hi
all, it’s time for another New Release at Digistamps4Joy. We have some
absolutely gooor-geee-ous images to show you today. I’ll tell you, Margy is
really on a roll! The image that we all got to play with today is called Reed
Swan. One of our DT asked Margy if she could draw a swan and so she did. But….she
also gave us a “sneak peak” at another image that she is releasing today and I
but luck managed to get my hands on it. So I am showing you my card made with
Reed Swan and Mom and Cygnets!
Are they not just beautiful? I was so excited at being able to play with both of these fabulous images. As soon as I saw them I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Many years ago when I first started making cards I came across this tutorial for making the type of card that I made for today. I started out by printing out the image on some white cs. I then traced it on tracing paper and then traced it onto my card base (base is 5.5 x 5.5) at the fold. Then I cut out the image using my craft utility knife, making sure that I did not cut into the actual fold. I colored the image on the white cs and then fussy cut it out and glued it to the image cut out of my base. I then took some more tracing paper and sponged different shades of blue onto to mimic the water in the pond. This I glued to what would have been the back of the card (where the hole was from my cut out image). Now it’s important that you glue it here because this is the effect you get when you shine the light behind and to the side of it.
That’s
right, you get what looks like a reflection in your pond. I hope that you have
enjoyed seeing my creation and learning how I did it. Now head on over to our
Challenge Blog to check out what my team mates have come up with and see the
rest of the new releases.

Bee My Honey
It’s
time for another Freebie Friday at Digistamps4Joy and Margy has come up with a really
“sweet” little image. This image is so versatile, as you will see by the
different ways that my team mates and I have used it. The name of this image is
“Bee My Honey”.
See,
I told you it was “sweet”! I decided to do something a little different and
made a “bag in a box” for my project. You can find the instructions here. The paper
is some freebie digital paper from DesignZ by DeDe and the blue cs is from
Bazzil. I fussy cut out my Bee My Honey image and added some little bee’s that my mom had made and gave me. I
finished it off with blue ribbon, maple leaf brads from my stash and my own
sentiment.
Thanks
for visiting and I hope that you will go to our challenge blog to check out
what the rest of my team mates have come up with. You can get your freebie here…you
do have to sign up, but don’t worry…that’s free too! This freebie will only be available
from Feb.-7-9th so don’t wait…go get it now.

Digistamps4Joy New Release for Feb. 2nd, 2014
Hi
all, it’s time for another Sunday Release at Digistamps4Joy. Today I have 2
fabulous images to share with you. One is an old one called Garden Bench and the
other is our new release called Forest. I blended them together to make a
scene.
I started off with brown cs from Bazzil and made a Standing Z Fold Card. I wish I could tell you what the name of the dp’s are, but they were pieces that I had given to me and there was no identifying name on them…but aren’t they pretty? I colored the images with my Crayola pencil crayons and oms and the “metal” part of the bench with my Crayola gold metallic pencil crayon. The small white roses are from Recollections and I added Star Dust Stickles to them. The vines are a Memory Box die called Savannah Border die using scraps of left over paper from other projects. I can't remember the name of the die pack for the die I used with the green brads to hold it together, but it's from Spellbinders. The sentiment is one from DeeDee’s Digis.
Thanks
so much for stopping by and looking. I hope you will head on over to our
challenge blog and check out all of the fabulous new images and the
inspirational cards that my teammies have created. We even have a new DT member
making her debut today!!
Have
a great day ~ Charlene
