The Morning After

CDAC is having another Progressive Challenge and this time, now don’t fall of your seats, I’m not getting mine done and in at the last second! I know, total shocker stopper isn’t it? And I think I might actually even be happy with what I did! Sorry…didn’t mean to shock you so much at once.

The image that we were given to play with this time is by Priscilla Styles and OMG…it is just the best! We had a choice of 3 styles of the same image….Halloween Cat, Lazy Cat or Christmas Cat. So since the big HOHOHO time is coming around quick…and I don’t do Halloween cards and frankly Lazy just might have given me some baaaad ideas…I picked Christmas!

The cs is from SU and the dp is from Forever In Time Scrapbook Collection. The small red flat blacked pearls are from my stash. I coloured it with my Staedtler pencil crayons and oms and my gold, red, blue and green gel pens. I added Digistamps4Joy’s Light String on the green cs behind my Christmas Cat image and I coloured the lights with my gold, green, red, pink and blue gel pens. I added stickles for the snow in the window and the falling snow and on the cat’s hat. I added red glitter glue onto my poinsettia’s. I used my SU ticket corner punch in the corners and added my Meridian Border from Memory Box.

The sentiment is my own…if you would like to use it, please just let me know.

Digistamps4Joy New Release Sunday Sept. 23

It’s another New Release Day at Digistamps4Joy and boy do we ever have some eye candy for all of you today. I know, I always say that, but have I ever steered you wrong?

Our artists have been hard at work to bring us some incredible images once again. For this week’s release the rest of the design team and I were given one of Jen’s newest images to play with.

This sweet little image is called Little Sailor Suit and is it not adorable. Reminds me of some of the cute little outfits that my aunt used to put my twin cousin’s in.

I coloured this adorable image with my Staedtler pencil crayons and oms, and did some of the red trim with my red gel pen. The paper is from Forever In Time Scrapbook Collection and the series is Baby Boy (I got it at my local dollar store). The cs is by Bazzil. The ribbon is from my stash (I’m pretty sure that I got it at Michaels).

To check out this image and all of the other wonderful one’s we’re releasing today just head on over to the Digistamps4Joy Challenge Blog.

You're How Old???

It’s challenge time again at Pattie’s Creations and this fortnight we have a favourite theme…Anything Goes! That’s’ right crafters it’s time to get out your images (as it is a rule at Pattie’s that your creation must have a digital or stamped image), papers and embellies galore…in other words go wild! And then come on over to our challenge blog and show us what you got.

Now normally I’m not a big one for doing any Halloween cards, but Pattie has this incredible image that I just had to play with. So I didn’t make a Halloween card…but, I did use a Halloween image. Here’s what I came up with

The image is called Halloween Cat on a Fence and of course the first thing my warped mind thought of when I saw it, was that the cat was freaked out by how old someone was. The continuation of the sentiment on the inside reads…."Is that in dog years? Try to have a Happy Birthday Anyways." Yes, my family and friends sense of humour is as warped as mine. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the inside and it is too dark here now to do it, so I will try to get one tomorrow to show you. I went very basic with this one as I wanted the image to be the center of attention. The black cs is by Bazzil and the white is some that I picked up from WalMart. I added some steel grey flat backed pearls by Recollections and a bow made with some ribbon in my stash. I coloured it with my Staedtler pencil crayons and oms and made the clouds going over the moon with my SU pastels. I cut out the sentiment using my Nestibilities scalloped die. I outlined the sentiment and the moon with my steel blue gel pen. The sentiment is my own.

Now it’s your turn and we can’t wait to see what you have in store for us. Head on over to Pattie’s Creations Challenge Blog to check out all of the rules, prizes and the incredible creations my team mates have done.

All The Leaves Are Brown, Red, Orange, Gold and Green

I was asked recently what my favourite thing about fall is and I would have to say that the changing of the leaves is probably my favourite thing about it. We had a road in Abbotsford (where I used to live) where all of these beautiful deciduous trees grew and their branches would hang over the road so it looked almost like a tunnel. There was nothing more beautiful than driving down this road with all of the gorgeous reds, oranges, browns and golds.

So you’re probably wondering what all of this talk about fall and leaves has to do with our newest challenge at Digistamps4Joy. Well, we in the Northern Hemisphere are preparing for autumn/fall and so we are challenging you to make a project with falling leaves (see you knew there had to be a reason for me talking so much about the leaves didn’t you?). To help us along on this challenge our wonderful artist Jen Lee has made the cutest image. It’s called It’sHere Somewhere and just wait till you see it…I’m sure you’ll fall in love with it just like I did.

See, is he not the cutest thing you ever saw? Anyone who owns a dog, or has owned one, can totally relate to this image. I started out with a dark brown cs from Bazzil. Onto this I layered a burnt orange dp with darker burnt orange leaves on it that was given to me by my mil. Unfortunately there was no designer stamp on it so I have no idea who makes it. I then added the dp with the leaf vines on it that I had in my stash (I know, I’m not really helping you much with the papers this time am I?)layered onto the dark brown cs. I also did this for the vertical strip. The other dp is by Best Creation Inc. (yay I had the name of one!), and the leaf on it is done with off white flocking. I found the bone on Clip Art for Free and added the sentiment myself. The metal maple leafs are brads that I had in my stash. I coloured it with my Staedtler pencil crayons and oms. Then I distressed the edges with an orange chalk pastel from my SU pastels.

For the inside I used the burnt orange paper again and the back side of the vine paper. I added my own sentiment again (I know, I have such a great imagination for sentiments lol).
Since this is such a long post I’m not going to list down all of the rules for our challenge. I’m just going to tell you to head on over to the Digistamps4JoyChallenge Blog and check out the challenge for yourself. All of the rules are in the right hand column…as well as a list of all the yummy prizes. While you’re there check out all of the marvellous creations that my team mates have made up to awe and inspire you.
Thanks for looking…..

Hugs ~ Charlene

CDAC Progressive Challenge

CDAC has started up their Progressive Challenges once again....YAY!! Unfortunately you cannot buy in anymore, but if you like the images you can go to the designers store and buy them. As usual I am coming in just under the wire with this one. My dd Kat and I have done a collaboration once again...I think she did better on her part of it than I did on mine. She coloured the images and then I added in the highlights and blended with the oms. We both went out and picked out the papers that we wanted to use, but when it came to the layout I am totally to blame *laughing*. I miss judged the size of my card in relation to the sizes that I made the images and so I didn't have the room to do all that I had wanted to do on this card, but, in the end I guess it makes a nice CAS card *smiling*.

So the image that we got to play with this time was some surfboards done by Tiffany Doodles and it really made you think of sun, sand and surf. We added some wonderful flowers to the board by Bearly Mine Designs. We also decided to add a Beach Babe to the mixture, so we used Toes in the Sand by Saturated Canary.

I'll have to come back to fill you in on the details...papers used, etc. as the family is getting impatient to go out.

Have a good day all...tfl  ~ Charlene

Digistamps4Joy New Release

It’s New Release day again at Digistamps4Joy and have we ever got some fabulous images to show you! This week me and my teammates got to play with a new Gardening Set that Margy has done up and boy are you going to love them. There are 10 images to the set, so you will have lots that you can do with them. Here’s what I came up with….

The images that I used were the planter, gardening gloves and the gardening shovel and fork. I added another newer image of ours, Rose Trio which I printed out twice, as my foliage for the planter. All of the images were coloured with my Staedtler pencil crayons and oms. I distressed around the image using my SU pastels.

Now head on over to Digistamps4Joy Challenge Blog to check out all of the rest of the images and the incredible creations that my teammates have come up with. We hope to see you joining in on our challenges (there's still time to enter into our current one)….maybe even using one of these new images :D

Thinking of You

Hi everyone, I hope that you are all having a good weekend so far. My weekend has been pretty laid back so far…just working on cards that I need to get done…it would sure be nice if my mojo would come back home to stay.

The card I’m showing today is a Sympathy card that I made up for someone close to me and the memorial was today. Digistamps4Joy recently released an image called Music Sheet and I knew that it would be the perfect image for the sympathy card. It would also be great for an anniversary card, Christmas…well you take a look and I’m sure you’ll be able to think of lots of uses for it.

I started off with a pale pink cs from Bazzil. On top of this I used a beautiful beige dp from BoBunny. I used my Nestibilities Beaded Oval Die to cut out the dp behind the image…that paper was from my stash. I used my SU Pastels to distress around the image in pink. The scalloped border is done using my Meridian Border Die by Memory Box. I added light pink small and medium flat backed pearls from Recollections. I used my Memory Makers corner punch on the corners of the BoBunny papers on each of the ends and the inside. I also added vines on my ends made with my Savannah Border Punch by Memory Box.

The sentiment inside was a freebie from A Piece of Heart. I printed it out on the light pink cs and cut it out with my Nestibilities Beaded Oval Die. The type of card I made is called a Middlestep card and you can find the tutorial here.

Celebrate the Colours of Spring

Digistamps4Joy’s new challenge is in full swing. The theme of our challenge is Celebrate the Colours of Spring. We were given this picture for our inspiration

Last week was Team A’s turn to inspire you, this week it’s Team B’s. For my card I used Digistamps4Joy’s Calla Lillies. I merged 2 of the image together to make a bouquet of lillies. I couldn’t decide what kind of a card I wanted this to be, so I left the sentiment off until I do.

I started off with blue cs from Bazzil and then added a layer of orange cs from SU. The dp is from my local dollar store and the blue ribbon was from my stash. I used my Memory Makers corner punch on all of these papers. I cut out blue cs and the image using my Nestibilities scalloped ovals. I coloured the image with my Steadtler pencil crayons and oms. For the corner I used my Madera Corner Die by Memory Box. Onto this I added some orange flowers that I had in my stash and made the yellow centers with my SU punch. The blue jewel flowers in the center are from my local dollar store and I filled the center with yellow Liquid Pearl. I also used drops of the yellow Liquid Pearl on the stems as small buds.

I hope that I have managed to inspire you in some way to come and join us in our challenge. To join us and to see all of the incredible creations that my team mates have made just go to our Challenge blog. We can’t wait to see what you create.

Soaring Eagle

Hey everyone, it’s time for another challenge at Pattie’s Creations. This time our challenge is to emboss. Any type of embossing will do…dry embossing, heat embossing, embossed papers…you get the idea. As usual we do require that you have a digital or stamped image on your creation. You don’t have to have a Pattie’s Creations image…but we sure would be tickled pink if ya did.

For our challenge Pattie generously let me play with Soaring Eagle. I was so excited…and nervous to be able to use this one. I have a very dear friend on the CDAC that has eagles that live right near her home on Vancouver Island so I wanted to be able to give her an eagle on her Birthday Fat Page. Unfortunately my colouring skills are not quite up to doing a Bald Eagle as wonderful as it is, so I decided to colour it like an African Fish Eagle (or as close as I could get it to that *laughing*). I coloured this fabulous image with my Crayola Crayons and oms.

I started off with blue cs from SU, which I embossed with my Garden Delight Design B Reversible M-Bossibilities Folder. This folder is so great as it gives you two embossing folders in one. I then took some pink roses dp from my stash and cut out a square frame (by hand as I don’t own a punch or die that will do this). To this I added some pink dp from BoBunny. The pretty pink ribbon I had in my stash and the flat backed pearls are by Recollections. I made the flowers myself with my EK Success flower punch and my SU 3 flower punch (sorry I can’t remember the name for it but it has 3 flower punches on one punch.). I ran the blue pieces through my Cuttlebug with the M-Bossibilities folder to give it a bit of texture. The leaves were done with my Marvy Uchida Oak leaf punch and the vines are made with my Savannah Border Die by Memory Box.

I made the dp behind the eagle by taking half of my Scallop punch from SU and using my SU pastels to form the clouds. I started off with Pink, then used 2 different shades of blue and blended them all in to give the soft look of clouds in a evening sky.

On the inside left hand side I used a sentiment that I found at Birds Cards and on the right side is a sentiment I found on Split Coast Stampers.

I also added the embossed flower and the ribbon on the inside of the card. On the back I added another sentiment that I found at Birds Cards and some more of the flowers and vines. I also used a Making Memories corner stamp on the corners of my pink paper.

So now that you have made it through this very long post, I hope that you will make your way over to Pattie’s Creations Challenge Blog and join in on our challenge. While you’re there check out what my teamies have done…there’s lots of great inspiration there. Also please make sure that you check out our rules…we don’t have many so it shouldn’t take you long *smiling* Also, if you have entered our last challenge, you will find the winners listed on the right hand side column. Congratulations to those that won!
Thanks for looking….Charlene
